Medical momma, caregiver, daycare owner, and fur mom. I have a wonderful partner, two handsome boys I adopted through foster care and a 12lb furry mutt. Living the life in San Antonio, Texas. Started babysitting at 14yrs old and in my 20s I became a foster parent on and off or for over 15 yrs. My first daycare infant is a teenager and graduating high school next year 2025. Started out working with typical developing children and moved into the special needs realm as time went on before adopting my two medically complex sons 2 and 9 years old.
I am told I talk fast and am very direct. If I see something that concerns me, I will not hesitate to speak up. I don't pretend to know it all, but I have been doing this a while. I have spent my career advocating for those that can't for themselves and in turn your babies become my babies.
I accept children with g, gj, ng, or og feeding tubes. I also welcome blended diets.
I accept children with colostomy bags.
I have two sons that are blind and have CVI. I have a soft spot for kiddos with eye/brain injuries.
Both of my sons have CP, one spastic, one hypo. I welcome any CP babies.
I am open to working with your therapists as long as there is space available. Mornings only 9-10am start times regularly scheduled. I will need to communicate directly with the therapists to avoid scheduling conflicts (group text).
I have a brand-new ceiling lift that goes from one bedroom to the living room. Placed to assist with transfers and therapy. For only 1 sleep space.
***This image is not my house.
Both of my sons have them and I do realize how important it is to follow whatever schedule is recommended for use. You can also leave a daycare pair here if needed.
I have 2 standers here one for toddlers another for children. We can include stander time if that is what your child needs. I will document how long it was tolerated for in your daily report.
I do currently have a Rifton HTS shower/toileting chair and a toddler size reclining mesh shower chair for special needs kids. Baths are extra for standard tuition families and included if paying through the MDCP Respite provider waiver.
I chose to go above and beyond and get all Green Guard certified mattresses.

Since I will have a wide range of abilities and potential ages, I will be choosing to buy equipment if I don't have it already for that particular child before their start date. I also have my toys on a rotation schedule. All will be hidden either in storage, closets and the cubbies. I have found having toys on display and bright colors
Since I will have a wide range of abilities and potential ages, I will be choosing to buy equipment if I don't have it already for that particular child before their start date. I also have my toys on a rotation schedule. All will be hidden either in storage, closets and the cubbies. I have found having toys on display and bright colors in general tends to overstimulate many kids. Toy overload is a real thing.
I run large room air purifiers with replaceable hepa filters with UV light to kill germs in every room. In addition to a quality whole house filter changed monthly or more.
I have a very sensitive nose and have learned over the years how toxic "scented" products are. I am a fan of the Vanicream line for showering my kids and lotion. All baby items will be washed in unscented detergent. I won't be wearing much scent at all. I know how annoying it can be having your child smell like someone else's strong perfume.
My go to is Purell unscented hospital grade sanitizer for hard surfaces. I will not be cleaning with bleach.
